Terms of Use for the Gotchickens Shop and Advice Desk

These terms cover how the website works, how orders for feeders, drinkers, incubators and coop hardware are handled, and what you agree to when you ask our flock desk a question.

Using the website

Browsing the catalogue is free and needs no account. When you place a cart order, you confirm that the delivery details you enter for Gauteng, the Free State or the Cape are correct and that someone can receive the parcel. Product photos and descriptions show real coop and yard supplies; small differences in shade cloth, timber tone or galvanised finish are normal between batches.

Orders and stock

An order is accepted once checkout is complete and we confirm it. Stock on items such as heat lamps, poultry grit and brooder plates moves quickly during the spring hatch, so an item can sell out between your order and packing. If that happens, we contact you before changing or cancelling anything. You are responsible for checking that the quantities and item sizes suit your coop before you pay.

Coop plans and cutting lists

Our coop plans, cutting lists in millimetres and ventilation notes are written for practical building on smallstands and farm werf layouts. They are guidance, not a building guarantee. Timber quality, your site, wind loading and local predator pressure all affect the result, so check measurements against your own yard and follow safe building practice. You build at your own risk.

The advice desk

Flock questions are answered by people who keep hens themselves. Ask about feeders, brooder setup, grit, laying nests or predator mesh and you will get a straight answer. Keep questions respectful and on topic, and do not use the desk to send spam, bulk marketing or abusive messages. Advice is general guidance for backyard keeping and does not replace a vet's diagnosis.

Limits of our responsibility

We are responsible for supplying the goods you order and for describing them honestly. We are not responsible for losses that follow from how equipment is installed, how a coop is built, or how a flock is managed after delivery. Where a product arrives faulty or damaged, tell us and we will sort it out under the policy that applies to your order.

Changes to these terms

The shop range and the way we work change over the seasons, so these terms are updated from time to time. The version published on this page applies to new orders and new questions from the moment it goes live. If you keep using the site after an update, you accept the current version.
